What is new for Northwoods Drifter in 2026

On December 14th, a notable transformation took place in the world of automobile dealerships in Minocqua, Wisconsin. Dave Marston Motors, a long-standing name in the industry, transitioned to a new era, rebranding as Northwoods Ford. This change marks a significant shift in the local automotive landscape.
The owner, Scott Marston, who has been at the helm of the dealership for over a decade, made the decision to sell the business following a celebration of 40 years in the industry. He expressed that after four rewarding decades, the time had come for him to step into retirement. Marston, reflecting on his career, observed the immense evolution of the auto industry, reminiscing about the early days of electronic fuel injection in the 1980s and how it has advanced over the years.
Scott Marston humorously looks forward to embracing the simple pleasures of retirement, including engaging in hobbies like fishing, hunting, trapping, golfing, and returning to his passion for water skiing. He quipped about becoming a “nim-rod,” a term he believes those in the Northwoods will appreciate.
The new proprietors, Lee Schreiber and Jose Cazares from northern Illinois, represent a fresh chapter for the dealership. Their acquisition of Dave Marston Motors stands out as an unusual move compared to their existing portfolio under Schreiber Automotive, which primarily operates within a 100-mile radius of their other locations.
Schreiber, a third-generation dealership owner, and Cazares, who started in the auto sales industry at 21, bring a wealth of experience and a shared philosophy to their new venture. Their history goes back to working together at one of Schreiber’s father’s dealerships in Woodstock, Illinois, where their professional relationship and friendship were forged. Their approach to car sales focuses on integrity, customer service, and community engagement.
The opportunity to acquire Dave Marston Motors came about in April 2023 when Ford presented the idea to Schreiber and Cazares. Initially hesitant due to the geographic distance from their established operations, the duo’s interest piqued after learning about the dealership’s history and visiting the Minocqua area. Both expressed their admiration for the region and the connections they discovered they had with it through various acquaintances and family members.
Schreiber and Cazares are enthusiastic about integrating into the Minocqua community, emphasizing their commitment to becoming a part of its fabric. Their philosophy aligns with the ethos of Schreiber Automotive: prioritizing people, offering quality service at fair prices, and conducting business ethically.
This transition from Dave Marston Motors to Northwoods Ford is not just a change of ownership but also a symbolic passing of the torch in a community deeply connected to its local businesses.
The new owners’ commitment to maintaining the dealership’s legacy while bringing in their unique approach promises an exciting future for Northwoods Ford and its customers.
